I never want anything else
For the lat year I've been using the PeeWee system - FANTASTIC!! I will never use anything else.
I have 4 cats and 4 litter boxes. Two high boxes and two with lids.
I don’t understand why Peter (from 2nd January 2012) says that the urine and used pellets stick to the box. Sometime it stick very lightly, but I just wipe the box clean with some paper towel and a light spray of disinfectant.
My only complaint is really minor, and that I that the colour of the bottom tray of the box is black, so I cant see the cats solid waste so well!
Otherwise, I find the PeeWee system SUPER!

Nice and Easy
I switched from bentonite and a litter box with a lid to the PeeWee open design litter box for our two Russian Blue cats. No problem! I have been delighted with the results. Less mess in the house and less mess in the litter box. With bentonite, there are heavy sticky clay deposits that are difficult to remove, but the PeeWee system is much lighter, cleans up easily, and there is no odor! In short, I am very happy that I made the change.

All in all a fine system
Dear cat lovers,
We have had cats our whole lives, and always used the standard grit.
My husband and I were given 3 kittens when we started living together.
We decided that we'd have the best of everything right from the start. I read about the PeeWee system, bit expensive initially, but I saw the savings potential and the advantages, so decided to try it.
As kittens, the PeeWee system worked perfectly - and I was delighted with the result. However, as adult cats, they would sit on the edge of the box and poo over the side. Absolutely disgusting! When I initially bought the PeeWee system, there wasn't the option to purchase the box with a lid. I mailed PeeWee several times to ask them if they have a lid for the box, but to my disappointment, did not get a response. I then went and bought a regular litter box with lid and reverted to using grit again.
So, today I thought I'd look at the PeeWee website for some pellets, and was happy to see several new items available for the system, including a litter box with a lid. Unfortunately, there isn't a separate lid that can be added to the old open litter system. It seems they want you to spend extra money and buy a whole new litter box and lid combination. I find that too expensive.
My cats sleep in the garage at night, so I have put the PeeWee system there, with a cardboard box over the litter box. In my lounge I have put the regular litter box with lid and grits. This time of year it is so humid that the grits in the litter box is absorbing all the humidity, so I have switched the boxes, and it is now working perfectly.
The PeeWee system really is a very good system. I would definitely recommend it to everyone, but will insist that they buy the litter box with the lid!
I find PeeWee a fine, clean system. You don’t smell that distinct cat urine odour, but when when your cat makes a poo - you'll still know all about it!
I very quickly remove the waste (anyway, I clean the litter box daily)

Less Enthusiastic
I was given the PeeWee system from a friend, whose cat refused to use the litter box. I removed the little door from the lid and my cats started using their new litter box.
For the last 25 years I have been associated with stray cats in the community and have experience with several litter boxes and litter.
After testing the PeeWee for several weeks (also using litter pellets from another company) have come to the conclusion that the PeeWee litter pellets and the special litter box are not worth their high price.
Nowhere on the packaging of the PeeWee pellets does it state how tightly the litter pellets are pressed, nor their absorption rate according to the DIN norms.
Because the urine and the sawdust falls through the grid, the mixture sticks to the bottom of the litter box and the pellets break down faster than grit.
In Summary: PeeWee is a nice system, but the high price is unjustified.
Note from PeeWee
There is no DIN norm for cat litter. For the composition of PeeWee pellets, see the website under the tab 'systeem'.

Perfect system if you have asthma!
I am allergic to all forms of cat litter because the dust and fragrances affects my asthma. I have tried Everything!
My friends were delighted when I eventually found the PeeWee system because they were getting tired of being the recipients of opened bags of litter.
Since the first day of using the PeeWee system I have not had an asthma attack!
But... I have one extremely stubborn cat, that out of outrage to the change of litter, has been depositing 'protest poo’s’ in front of the litter box!
I have six cats and seven litter boxes, of which four are the PeeWee box with hood (without flap), one large open box and two Modcat boxes in which I use different wood pellets (that also do not crumble or clump).
Three times a day I scoop cat poo out of the boxes and stir the litter. Thank heavens the peeing outside the boxes has stopped....now just the poo! Five cats have accepted the PeeWee system without any problems, but there is still one that delivers his ‘protest poo’ outside the litter box! I just have no idea which of the little rascals is the culprit!
For two weeks I have been tidying up his ‘protest poo’! Hopefully he’ll surrender soon....because there is no way I’ll consider going back to the old litter. The relief from the asthma attacks is too great!
PeeWee is an amazing system that totally eliminates odour, is easy to keep clean and isn’t even expensive because you use it so economically!

The absolute Number 1!
Absolute top! The cats enjoy their new litter box, there are no more unpleasant odours and the box design concept is attractive for the interior.
And most importantly, the cats paws stay clean!
Absolutely satisfied with the PeeWee Cat Litter Box System!!!

PeeWee experience with an enclosed box
I'm only reading stories of very happy cat owners on this website. I see advantages and disadvantages, and am not 100% convinced. Whereas I used to only smell my old litter box after about a week and a half ( I used to buy the cheapest litter of 1.10 Euro per bag, because the clumping variety I found a disaster.)
I now smell the PeeWee box from day one. I have to admit that I don’t smell the poo or pee....just the smell of the wood pellets.
I was always a lazy cleaner, and never scooped out the poo. Only when I started smelling the litter box when entering the room, would I change the litter.
With the PeeWee litter box, I am scooping the poo out daily (which I really should do as my cat has kittens) and am changing the bottom box once a week.
Advantages of my PeeWee
- environmentally friendly
- no odour of the solid and liquid waste
- clean paws of the cats after exiting the box
- if you are used to expensive litter pellets, then this is economical.
Disadvantages of my PeeWee
- constant sickly sour smell of the pellets.
- the clamps of the box are not handy. It would be easier if they were placed ion the upper box)
I think it is a good idea that I place my critical experience in your forum.

Great!
I was sick and tired of lugging heavy cat litter. I used to dread changing the litter box. I have two inside cats. I never realized that it is damaging to the environment and bad for the health of human and cat. After trying out nearly every cat litter on the market, we came across PeeWee. Never want anything else! Have two longhair tomcats. It took a little while for them to get used to PeeWee.
It is a brilliant system. It is also quite a bit cheaper than regular litter pellets. It also makes a big difference with mess from cats walking out the old litter, and cleaning of the box. My cats always used to scratch heavily in the old box. With the PeeWEee pellets, they don’t scratch at all. So regularly I stir the pellets so that the used pellets - sawdust - can fall through the grid to the bottom box. It is done in a jiffy.
All in all, I can recommend this system to everyone!

What an improvement!
Two weeks ago I discovered PeeWee products.
Previously I’d been lugging 20kg bags of cat litter up to my apartment. I would have to change two litter boxes every week and bring the four bags of stinking waste to the bins downstairs.
Now with PeeWee, I need only one litter box for three cats!
It only took a short while for the cats to get used to the PeeWee litter box and litter. Twice a day I remove the cat poo and stir the sawdust so that the broken pellets fall through the grid and into the bottom tray. The waste in the bottom tray can be easily removed, and because it is completely odourless, can be thrown into the kitchen garbage bin.
I would never have believed that there was no odour – knowing the productivity of my cats, and how they used to mess their previous litter boxes! It is honestly fantastic! You can dump the used PeeWee litter in your kitchen garbage bin – even leave it there for a week, and there is no odour at all. (well...not cat littler odour anyway!)
The price tag may be a little pricey on the PeeWee bag....but because you use it so sparingly, it is in fact quite a bit cheaper than regular cat litter. And it weighs a fraction of the regular litter!
The only disadvantage of using the PeeWee product is that it isn’t readily available in all pet stores. I’ve made an arrangement with my closest PeeWee supplier that I phone them ahead of time with my order, and collect it on arrival. It works fine for me – and the extra effort is well worth it to be able to use this great product.

Excellent choice!
It’s 14 days now that I have the PeeWee Cat litter box.
I got the idea of using this system when I saw it being used at a cattery I recently visited and thought that it could possibly be a solution for my cat who simply refuses to use a closed litter box and the PeeWee box has such high sides that the litter won’t be scratched out of the box.
At first my cat was a little startled at the size of the big sawdust pellets, but I mixed in some of his old litter, and he got used to the new litter quickly. Now my cat is happy, I am happy, and there are absolutely no unpleasant litter odours anymore! Even the green container, where I throw away the used sawdust smells of pine!

Wonderful
An ingenious invention. I have five cats.
I started with one PeeWee litter box, and I really don’t ever want any other system.
I used to have six litter boxes throughout the house filled with grit. Twice a day I'd scoop the boxes to try and keep the smell at bay and once a week I'd change the litter in all the boxes. A very expensive hobby if you consider that I'd pay 14 Euro per bag, and go through one and a half bags per week!
It's 2 months now that I have the PeeWee box and the first bag of 9 kg isn't even half way used. Shortly I will purchase more PeeWee boxes and recommend the system to every cat owner I know.
It is even better for you and your animal.

Fantastique
Really fantastic
What sounded like a fairy tale, is actually true. After about six weeks, the first three kilo's of pellets are eventually finished!
That saves a lot of traipsing, as the urine is absorbed in the bottom box. And you really don’t smell any cat box odour!
All in all an excellent investment.
When I got my two kittens I had already bought an old fashioned litter box. 20 Kilo of betonite litter pellets will cost you an easy 25 Euro, which would be finished within three months.
The cats do scratch the litter out of the box, but I improved that problem by putting the 'house' of the old box on top of the new one.
